It’s another holiday season (where did the fall go??) and back to the big rush, shopping traffic and grumpy shoppers. I ventured to the local market after a Sunday am yoga class (yay!) for some groceries. As I cruised around the nearly full parking lot looking for an open spot, another Sunday shopper drove by me and visibly frowned. I smiled back and she angrily shook her head. I really couldn’t understand why someone was clearly so unhappy so early in the day.
I found a parking spot, jumped out and walked into the market, looking for a shopping cart. As I maneuvered through the aisles (that seemed to have gotten narrower with all of the holiday goodies) I saw the unhappy shopper pushing her cart, again. She caught my eye, glared at me and shook her head once more. I truly couldn’t believe it. I smiled back, with a ridiculous clown like smile, hoping to have an effect on this woman’s disposition. It was futile. She angrily shuffled off with her cart. Yikes.
This is the holidays. The season for joy, peace and love. I hope you all can find a way to enjoy this time with your family and friends, and yes, share a smile with a stranger. They may not always smile back, but you never know what your smile may do for their day. I’m not positive my smile did anything more than further aggravate the lady in market. But, I do believe in sharing kindness. However small.
Have an amazing holiday season! Happy, Holly & Jolly!!
Cheers!
